90 per cent decrease in garda drug squad numbers in co. wexford
It's been revealed that the number of Gardaí assigned to the drug squad in County Wexford has seen a 90 per cent decrease in recent years. According to new figures obtained by Fianna Fáil there's now just 1 officer in the drugs unit in the county - compared to 11 in 2011. Nationally 108 Gardaí have been pulled from garda drugs squads over the last 4 years. Wexford Fianna Fáil TD John Browne says the situation in Wexford is dire and the reduction in numbers will have serious consequences in dealing with the issue of drugs in the county.
