Almost 40 homes repossessed in co. wexford last year
As the government's warned the mortgage arrears crisis is going to get worse, it's been revealed almost 40 homes were repossessed in County Wexford last year. 338 repossession proceedings issued while 38 orders were made in the county. Court Service figures nationally show 7,000 such cases are pending. But the Irish Mortgage Holders Organisation is warning this will increase significantly over the next two years. Taoiseach Enda Kenny says the Government doesn't want to see people's homes repossessed. But CEO of the IMHO, David Hall, says banks can be extremely difficult to deal with for people in this situation. He says the numbers are going to increase as house prices increase and homes can be sold off for much greater sums of money.
