Cllr Jim Codd Calls for Prosecutions After Taghmon Bus Shelter Vandalised

Rosslare Councillor Jim Codd has strongly condemned the vandalism of a recently installed bus stop shelter in Taghmon, calling the damage "sickening" and "a disgrace to the community."

The shelter, which cost €10,000 to install, was targeted in an act of vandalism over the weekend, leaving panels broken and the structure significantly damaged. “This is a facility that was put in place to serve the people of Taghmon – particularly the elderly who rely on public transport to travel to Wexford,” Cllr Codd said. “The people who did this have no care for their community, no care for older people, and certainly no care for the taxpayers who now face the cost of replacing the damaged parts.” He is now calling for stronger action and prosecutions to tackle what he described as a pattern of anti-social behaviour in the area. “This destruction sends a dangerous message that people can do whatever they want without consequences,” he added. “We need prosecutions. This type of vandalism must come to a halt.” Cllr Codd said the community had long campaigned for proper public transport infrastructure in the village and that it was deeply frustrating to see it treated with such disregard.
