Dublin shooting leaves a man in a critical condition
A 45-year-old man is in a critical condition following a shooting in Dublin. The incident happened outside a gym in Balbriggan this morning. Its the second time in the last four years that the man has been the victim of a gun attack. Shortly after 11 o'clock this morning - a 45-year-old - was shot at a number of times - as he left a gym in the Balbriggan Retail Park. The victim - who is known to Gardai - was hit at least twice in the upper body. Emergency services were called to the scene - and the man was rushed by ambulance to Beaumont Hospital for treatment. His condition is being described as critical. The man survived a previous attempt on his life - when he was shot in a bar near his home in Bettystown in Co Meath in 2010. A team from the Garda Technical Bureau is carrying out a forensic examination of the scene - which remains sealed off. Gardai are appealing to any witnesses to the gun attack to contact them.
