Rapidly rising house prices will mean an entire generation will never be able to own their home. That's the claim today from Fianna Fáil - in the wake of the latest report from property website Daft.ie. The survey - covering the first three months of the year - shows the biggest price increases in two years. It's estimated the cost of buying a home will reach Celtic Tiger era levels, if prices continue to rise at current rates. Fianna Fáil claims the government needs to cut through the red tape associated with housing construction and planning.
