Family of late brian lenihan may seek admission to banking inquiry

Former Fianna Fáil Minister Mary O'Rourke says the family of her late nephew Brian Lenihan should be allowed to take part in the Banking Inquiry. Ms O'Rourke says she wants Brian Lenihan's brother Conor - who was a Junior Minister at the time of the bank guarantee - to appear before members next month. Mary O'Rourke says the former Finance Minister confided in his family throughout the financial collapse of 2008. She says allowing the Lenihan family to take part would not be 'hearsay' or 'macabre', and that it is in the best interest of fairness. "I'm just the aunt of the man who has died, of who many people will be talking about in the weeks ahead" she said. "And that's what I'll be scrutinising and watching - and if necessary the right of admission to the committee...I wish for Conor to go, not for me - if we wish to put our version" she added.
