Hosepipe Ban To End in Wexford but Uisce Éireann Urges Continued Water Conservation

Uisce Éireann has confirmed that the hosepipe ban in County Wexford will officially end on 16 September 2025 but the public is being asked to keep water conservation top of mind as drought conditions persist.

The utility has thanked Wexford communities for their cooperation throughout the summer noting that public efforts to reduce water use and report leaks helped protect vital supplies during extreme pressure. However many local areas such as Ballyhogue Fardystown and parts of Gorey remain in drought or potential drought status. Regional Operations Manager Fionnuala Callery says the end of restrictions is not a green light to revert to old habits and that full recovery of water sources could take weeks or months due to the slow natural recharge process of underground aquifers. Uisce Éireann is encouraging practical changes such as taking shorter showers using buckets instead of hoses for car washing and only running dishwashers or washing machines when fully loaded.
