Ireland is on course to become the most obese nation in Europe accord to new figures.
At least one in five children in Ireland is overweight or obese according to the National Nutrition Surveillance Centre. Their figures show that across all ages the issue affects more girls than boys. Those attending DEIS schools also tend to have higher levels of overweight and obesity and the gap becomes wider as children get older.
