Legal action taken against some homeowners despite repayment schedule
A new report shows some banks have pushed on with legal action against struggling homeowners, even after they've agreed a repayment schedule. The Central Bank's been looking into how 7 unnamed lenders treat people in arrears on their homeloans. It also found some banks continued to make direct calls to customers, despite the fact that the mortgage holder had appointed a third party to handle the issue. And some mortgage lenders continued to look for extra payments, on top of an agreed repayment schedule. The Irish Mortgage Holders Association says the report confirms what they've been hearing. Chief Executive David Hall says banks must stop contacting customers directly, if they've arranged for a solicitor to represent them.
