LEO Wexford Creates 391 New Jobs in 2025, Ranking Among Top 3 Nationwide

Local Enterprise Office (LEO) Wexford has once again demonstrated its significant role in fostering economic growth, ranking in the top three Local Enterprise Offices in Ireland for job creation in 2025. The office supported the creation of 391 new jobs, a 19% increase compared to 2024 and marked the 11th consecutive year of growth for the county.

The new figures show a net employment gain of 246 jobs, with the 391 new positions accounting for companies supported by LEO Wexford throughout the year. This achievement follows a strong performance in 2024, when 329 new jobs were created by LEO-supported businesses. These results underscore the resilience and growth potential of small businesses in Wexford.

LEO Wexford continues to back the local economy by supporting 237 small businesses in the county, which collectively employ over 2,100 people. These companies are provided with financial assistance and a wide range of services, including training, mentoring, and access to programs such as Lean for Business, Grow Digital, and Green for Business.

Wexford’s success can also be attributed to the ongoing dedication of its local leaders. An Cathaoirleach of Wexford County Council, Cllr Joe O’Sullivan, praised the work of the Local Enterprise Office, saying, “These figures highlight the significant impact that LEO and its clients are having on economic growth across the county. The creation of 391 jobs is a testament to the resilience and ambition of Wexford’s entrepreneurs.”

Chief Executive of Wexford County Council, Eddie Taaffe, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the county’s impressive performance. “This remarkable job creation result places Wexford as the third-highest job creator among the 31 LEOs nationwide and second in terms of net job creation. These results reflect the strength and potential of our local entrepreneurs, and we are proud to support them in their efforts.”

Breege Cosgrave, Head of Enterprise and Economic Development at Wexford County Council, also praised the figures, noting that these numbers represent only those companies that have received direct financial support from the LEO. “Many more businesses are benefiting from other valuable supports such as Lean, Green, and Digital, along with vital training and mentoring. These positive results show the resilience of the small business sector, and we look forward to continuing our support in 2026.”
