There needs to be a discussion about gender and what it means today compared to 30 years ago.
That's according to a a medical expert in the area following a Prime Time special on transgender young people last night. There was controversy over the programme for featuring Father Ted writer Graham Linehan who has controversial opinions on the topic. Professor Donal O'Shea runs the gender dysphoria clinic at St Columcille's Hospital in Loughlinstown in Dublin. He says there needs to be discussion - but nobody should be forced to be either male or female.
