The Minister for Children and Youth Affairs says she's very disappointed at the ASTI's decision to carry out strike action in secondary schools.
Members of the teaching union are staging industrial action in a dispute over pay. The ASTI has scheduled the first of seven days of strike action for next Thursday, with plans for the withdrawal of supervision duties due to to take effect from the 7th of November. Minister Katherine Zappone says she wants to see talks between the union and Department of Education, which are due to take place next week, to focus solely on resolving this dispute.
