Brendan Howlin made the comments on his way into this morning's Cabinet meeting - where Ministers could sign-off on an independent inquiry into allegations that serious crimes, including murder, weren't properly investigated. Last night, Sergeant Maurice McCabe denied the Garda Commissioner had directed him to co-operate with an inquiry into the cancellation of penalty points. Minister Brendan Howlin says the Government will consider a Commission of Investigation into the matter.
