Two men died as result of thier light aircraft hitting low visibiltiy in the Blackstairs Mountains an Air Accident Investigations Unit report has found.
The two Paul Keane and Brian Smyth left Athboy Airfield in County Meath on May 24th last year en route to an airfield outside Taghmon. However thier plane struck the side of the mountain in County Carlow and both were killed along with thier dogs. The accident report said local weather conditions meant visibility was not possible at the time and the plane crashed at an altitude of over 2,000 feet.
