Rise in live register figures in the south east
Over 700 people joined the dole queue in the South East last month according to the latest CSO figures. That's despite a fall nationally when the numbers are seasonally adjusted. Last month saw a 1.6 per cent rise in the number of people on the live register across the South East when compared with April. There are now almost 46,500 people on the dole in the region. However there's been a yearly drop of 9.3 per cent or over 4,700 people signing on across the 5 counties. Meanwhle a rise of 761 people on the live register in the region in May compares with a fall of 2,600 people across the country. The Central Statistics Office says in unadjusted terms, there's been an 11 per cent decrease in the number of people on the dole in Ireland in the past year.
