Seanad rejects calls for tourism minister to intervene in brooks dispute
The Seanad has rejected calls for the Tourism Minister to intervene in the dispute over the Garth Brooks concerts. Senators voted 32-16 against a bid from Fianna Fáil to ask Leo Varadkar to make an immediate statement on the matter. Fianna Fáil says immediate action is needed, given that 70,000 tourists from overseas were planning on attending the run of five concerts in Croke Park. Seanad leader Maurice Cummins says politicians shouldn't be interfering in planning decisions made by local authorities.
