Social Democrats TD Jennifer Whitmore has raised concerns in the Dáil following an interview with Minister for Housing James Browne on South East Radio this morning.
On Morning Mix earlier today, Browne accused Met Éireann of withholding critical flood warning information related to the recent storm event.Minister Browne called for Improved Communication from Met Éireann and called out Met Éireann for failing to provide earlier warnings to the public. He is calling for better communication and transparency from the weather service moving forward.
Whitmore described the accusation as “extraordinary” and questioned Taoiseach Micheál Martin if he agreed with the Minister’s claim.
In response, Martin said he had not heard the interview and could not comment on it but agreed more needed to be done in terms of adapting to climate change and flood relief schemes.
