The Battle For County Wexford's Milk Pool Continues

The battle for county wexford's milk pool continues

WMP Wexford Milk Producers have been written to by their chairman today while a number of other producers have called for a Special General Meeting. In a letter sent to all shareholders the chairman of Wexford Milk Producers Mart Murphy has reiterated the commitment entered into with Glanbia Ingredients Ireland following the special general meeting on the 3rd December last. Since then shareholders opposed to the deal have been in discussions with an alternative prospective purchaser Strathroy Dairies. A number of meetings have been held and these shareholders are now calling for a special general meeting of WMP to be held before the 1st of March. They are calling for a resolution from the Board of the Society to enter into negotiations with other interested parties in Wexford Creamery. Meanwhile in today's letter to shareholders the chairman has outlined a number of key issues which should be considered by suppliers opting to examine an alternative deal. They include the agreement already signed with GII and penalites for supplying milk elsewhere. The letter states WMP has to date signed up more than fifty per cent of its suppliers representing fifty four per cent of the milk pool for the deal with GII.
