An opposition TD has challenged the government to prosecute her, after bringing tablets which cause abortion to the floor of the Dáil.
Brid Smith produced the tablets during last night's debate, on a bill by the Anti-Austerity Alliance/People Before Profit. Pills to induce abortion are available online, but it's illegal under Irish law to buy them. Deputy Smith said the government is too ashamed to enforce its own laws - which proves reform is needed.
