Thousands of homes remain without power
17,000 homes are without power across the country as Storm Rachel continues to affect some areas. A Status Red weather warning is still in place along the West Coast - with gusts of up to 150 kilometres per hour recorded. A number of ferry crossings, including those from Rosslare, have been cancelled, while Gardaí are advising road users to be vigilant. The ESB says 10,000 of those without power are in Donegal alone, which has seen the worst of the weather. In Wexford up to three hundred homes are still without power. The areas affected are Castlebridge with up to 100 outages while in Campile there are about 30 homes with no electricty and in Baelistown, South of New Ross, ESB crew are working to restore power to over 80 houses. An ESB spokesperson says there may be more customers affected in the Bealistown area in the early afternoon before power is fully restored.
