Vardakar not resiling from his position on commissioner
The Transport Minister says he is not resiling from his position on the Garda Commissioner. Leo Varadkar called on Martin Callinan last week to withdraw his use of the word "disgusting" in relation to the actions of the garda whistleblowers. The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has said Ministers should raise issues that they have problems with at the Cabinet meeting and not make comments in public. However Minister Varadkar says that he stands by his position. "The Taoiseach expressed that view after I'd given my views - and I always give my views at Cabinet" he said. "But...I said what I said at the road safety conference on Thursday, I'm not resigning from my position - but I'm not going to say anymore at this stage, at least until we've had a chance to speak about it as Ministers" he added.
