Waterford assault victim named as gardai investigate

The victim of an alleged assault in County Waterford has been named locally as John Lowe.

The 53 year-old was discovered by Gardai yesterday afternoon at a house in Portlaw. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Irish Independent's Southern Correspondent Ralph Riegel says a murder investigation is underway. He says the victim was a quiet man.
