Wexford schools and families are being urged to take part in this year’s MS Readathon, a nationwide fundraiser that promotes reading while supporting people living with multiple sclerosis (MS).
The campaign, run by MS Ireland, begins on November 1st and invites participants to read as many books as they can until December 15th, all while raising funds through sponsorship. Meath footballer and clinical psychologist Cillian O’Sullivan, who was diagnosed with MS in late 2023, is lending his support to the campaign. He’s encouraging families in Wexford and beyond to sign up, describing reading as a “superpower” that opens doors to learning and emotional growth. “Taking part in the MS Readathon as a child gave me a love of reading,” said O’Sullivan. “Now, I see it as a way to help others while building a lasting positive habit.” MS Ireland CEO Ava Battles says the Readathon helps fund vital services for over 11,000 people living with MS across the country. “We’re asking schools, families, and communities in Wexford to get involved and inspire young readers,” she said.
