Wexford Gardaí Issue Winter Safety Advice for Isolated People

As we approach the winter months, Gardaí in Wexford are encouraging members of the community to remain vigilant and to look out for vulnerable or isolated individuals in their area.

Sergeant Margo Kennedy speaking on Morning Mix is urging  people to notify their local Garda station of any elderly or isolated individuals who may benefit from additional community support. A confidential register is maintained at each station to ensure that those most in need can be linked in with relevant local services. “In recent weeks, we’ve received calls from elderly residents seeking advice on home security measures as the evenings grow darker,” Sergeant Kennedy said, “We want to remind the public that Gardaí are available to provide assistance and can call out to homes to offer guidance on personal alarms, home security systems, and other protective measures.” Wexford Gardaí are also warning the public to be aware of bogus callers targeting homes, particularly during the winter period. “If someone arrives at your property uninvited, do not allow them inside unless you are fully satisfied with their credentials. Always ask for identification, verify the information they provide, and never feel pressured to let anyone in. If in doubt, tell them you will contact them once their details have been confirmed.” Members of the public are encouraged to reach out to their local Garda station for advice or to report any suspicious activity.
