Wexford Gardaí are alerting local businesses—especially hardware stores—to a rising credit card scam that has already cost retailers thousands of euro.
The scam sees criminals using stolen credit card information to place large orders. Although payments may initially appear successful, banks later flag the cards as stolen and reverse the transactions—leaving businesses without payment for goods already collected. Wexford Sergeant Eddie Wilde has urged business owners to remain vigilant, warning that this type of fraud is becoming increasingly common and is actively targeting retailers across the area.
