Minister for Housing James Browne TD has announced that €50 million in additional housing funding will be used to help families and Housing First clients move out of long-term emergency accommodation.
The funding will be distributed to local authorities including Wexford based on the number of households in emergency accommodation for over 12 months. The initiative will focus on acquiring four-bedroom homes which are in short supply through other schemes. This funding is part of a broader €375 million programme to support social housing acquisitions in 2025 and beyond. Minister Browne said the goal is to urgently reduce the number of children in homelessness and provide permanent housing for vulnerable families.
