Wexford Women Urged to Join Free Heart Health Webinar on World Heart Day

Women in Wexford are being encouraged to register for a free national webinar aimed at giving practical advice, confidence, and inspiration to help protect their heart health.

The online event, Her Heart Matters 2025: How every woman can take charge of her heart health, is organised by the Irish Heart Foundation and takes place on World Heart Day, September 29. It comes as new research highlights that lack of motivation, stress, and concerns over the cost of health checks are major barriers to women taking care of their heart health. The webinar will be hosted by broadcaster Maura Derrane and will feature expert advice from Dr Louise Fitzgerald, GP and clinical lead in menopause and occupational health. It will explore how heart disease and stroke symptoms in women can differ from men, how life stages like menopause can impact heart health and practical steps to reduce risk. Janis Morrissey, Director of Health Promotion with the Irish Heart Foundation, said the goal is to help women “take stock of where they are at” and recognise simple but powerful ways to protect their heart. “Even one small change can make a huge difference,” she said. “The webinar will give us a space to talk, share and empower each other.
